Happy Yarn Shop Experience
Dear Mo,
As you know, my day off is Monday and the only local yarn shop open on Mondays is The Myers House Weaving Department. This amazing store is in the upper floor of an astonishing Victorian house in Florissant, quite close to the intersection of 170 and 270. They still remember you and your amazing felted hat. I think they do have weaving and spinning equipment, but most of what they have is a vast array of knitting stuff. Everyone who works there knows a lot about knitting, too, so they give excellent advice about adapting patterns, choosing yarn, etc.
I went there last week to buy yarn for a project and also to buy knitting needles . And of course while I was there I also impulse bought some fancy novelty yarn. Anyway, one of the things I bought was a pair of lovely Lantern Moon knitting needles, which were varicolored wood, like the ones pictured on their website as letter P. However, as I was first knitting with them, I found that I was getting little jabs in my fingers, like tiny splinters and my yarn was sticking to the needles themselves. I realized that one of these beautiful needles had little sharp places on them which my yarn and my fingers were sticking on. But last Monday I took them back to Myers House and Nancy (who I think is the owner) allowed me to exchange them for another pair of Lantern Moons and let me feel the replacement needles to make sure they were not similarly flawed. My new needles are still beautiful, although they are not quite as beautiful as the first pair. But they are wonderfully smooth.
I was so happy that I bought ten skeins of Noro Silk Garden to make the Clapotis scarf from the Knitty website. I'll post what that looks like, soon.
Meanwhile, I am in awe of the great job you have done on the background of our blog. The photo is a work in progress. I am working on the multidirectional diagonal scarf which I am making in Nashua Wooly Stripes.
Hope you are having a good Spring Break. Miss you,
Love,
Momma
