Soaring Socks

My first socks made on two circulars were finished this weekend. When I was at General Convention, a woman from the diocese of Michigan, a few rows ahead of me, was knitting socks on circulars and from her I learned about Cat Bordhi's book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles. The green pair are made of washable merino wool made in South Africa and distributed by Louet Sales. It is called Gems Opal and the color is fern green. The other pair of socks is a pair I started ages ago using the Lion Brand self-striping yarn and a porcupine of DPNs. For some reason, no matter how often I use it, I can never remember how to do kitchener stitch and each time I have to look it up on knitty.com. And I didn't quite get around to that with this pair of socks. But now I have... Anna is our model, as usual.

New Knitorious Opens!

Knitorious has moved! They are now even nearer to where we live (which may not be such a good thing for my bank balance) and they have lots and lots more space. I don't know how they managed to mover everything in less than a week. The new store is vast and carpeted and well lit and the comfy chairs the old store had early on are back so you can sit and leaf through books and get ideas. Everything is wonderfully set out and displayed and the usual enticing examples of what you can do are artfully arranged. They don't have the lovely window display and signage which they had at the old store but I suspect they've been so busy getting the merchandise out that they haven't had time for such things. They have moved to Watson and Bradley and you can read about the move and see a picture of the new store on their website www.knitorious.com.

Glittery Corkscrew Scarf

Dear Mo,
Here is a picture of the fabulous Anna wearing the corkscrew scarf. The yarn is Trendsetter Dune. I am not sure what the color was supposed to be. It also looks, looking critically at the scarf, as if I may have used two different colors. But the general impression is fluffy and glittery and twisty, so it doesn't seem to be a big deal. The wonderful and amazingly easy corkscrew pattern is from the fabulous Loop-d-Loop book by Teva Durham. There is also a Loop-d-Loop website but it doesn't have this fabulous Corkscrew Scarf pattern on it.
It was nice of Anna to model this in the middle of a long heat wave and it was clever of us to position her in front of the kitchen door, practically the only place in the house where she could model and we wouldn't see clutter in the background.
